Classical and Quantum Causality in Quantum Field Theory
Based on a number of experimentally verified physical observations, it is argued that the standard principles of quantum mechanics should be applied to the Universe as a whole. Thus, a paradigm is proposed in which the entire Universe is represented by a pure state wavefunction contained in a factorisable Hilbert space of enormous dimension, and where this statevector is developed by successive...
متن کاملLocal Primitive Causality and the Common Cause Principle in Quantum Field Theory
If {A(V)} is a net of local von Neumann algebras satisfying standard axioms of algebraic relativistic quantum field theory and V1 and V2 are spacelike separated spacetime regions, then the system (A(V1),A(V2), f) is said to satisfy the Weak Reichenbach’s Common Cause Principle iff for every pair of projections A ¥ A(V1), B ¥A(V2) correlated in the normal state f there exists a projection C belo...
متن کاملRemarks on Causality in Relativistic Quantum Field Theory
It is shown that the correlations predicted by relativistic quantum field theory in locally normal states between projections in local von Neumann algebras A(V1),A(V2) associated with spacelike separated spacetime regions V1, V2 have a (Reichenbachian) common cause located in the union of the backward light cones of V1 and V2. Further comments on causality and independence in quantum field theo...
متن کاملEntropy bound and local quantum field theory
I comment on Ulvi Yurtsever’s result, which states that the entropy of a truncated bosonic Fock space is given by a holographic bound when the energy of the Fock states is constrained gravitationally. The derivation given in Yurtsever’s paper contains an subtle mistake, which invalidates the result. A more restrictive, non-holographic entropy bound is derived. PACS numbers: 04.70.-s, 03.67.-a
متن کاملZurek-Kibble Causality Bounds in Time-Dependent Ginzburg-Landau Theory and Quantum Field Theory
Zurek's and Kibble's causal constraints for defect production at continuous transitions are encoded in the field equations that condensed matter systems and quantum fields satisfy. In this article we highlight some of the properties of the solutions to the equations and show to what extent they support the original ideas.
